A System (Band) - Frequency range operated by the A Carrier.
Kbps - Stands for kilobytes-per-second, and is used for measuring the speed at which data is transmitted.
Talk Time - The amount of time you can actually talk on your phone before you have to recharge your battery.
BTA - Basic Trading Area. A group of counties, as defined by a study conducted by Rand McNally, that represent a geographic area of common business interests and relationships. These areas were used by the FCC to define the boundaries of the new C, D, E and F block PCS licenses.
Metropolitan Service Area - (MSA) An area defined by the U.S. government for use in grouping census data and other statistics. MSA's include a city of at least 50,000 people or an urbanized area of at least 100,000 people and the counties that include these areas. Not all areas of the United States are in an MSA. The FCC used these area definitions to license cellular telephone service carriers. There are 306 regions of the United States designated as MSA's.

Brown-out - Even though a roaming agreement may be in place, you may occasionally be unable to use your phone in certain areas. When high fradulent use is detected on a cellular system, the cellular service provider may temporarily suspend roaming priviledges for specific roaming customers to protect themselves and the cellular customers from fradulent users.
